Stoos, the Fronalpstock and the Swiss Army knife

The world’s steepest funicular to the car-free village of Stoos, the chairlifts up the Fronalpstock, with more than ten lakes in view, and in Brunnen everyone assembles their own Swiss Army knife at Victorinox. An hour from Zurich, just for you.

The day

1. Hotel pick-up in Zurich
2. Schlattli, about an hour's drive away; the car stays at the valley station
3. The world's steepest funicular: a 110% gradient, with the cabins pivoting as they climb to keep the floor level under your feet
4. Stoos, the car-free village, on the way to the chairlifts
5. Fronalpstock, at 1,922 m: twenty minutes of chairlift in two sections, and at the summit the panorama of more than ten lakes. The panorama path at the top is 1.6 km and half an hour, and takes a pushchair
6. Lunch at the summit or in the village, depending on the rhythm of the day
7. Brunnen, on the shore of Lake Lucerne: free, flexible time by the water, which absorbs any delay from the mountain
8. Victorinox, in Brunnen, at the booked time: build your own Swiss Army knife, with an engraving on the blade. About twenty minutes per person, with the slot booked by us: if everyone in the group wants to build one, the time in the shop grows, and with a larger group we agree beforehand how to fit it into the day. After Victorinox, only the drive back
9. Back to the hotel
